Pattaya
Pattaya offers a little bit of everything — and rarely the very best of anything
Millions arrive in Pattaya every year, and several tens of thousands call it home year-round — and it’s not hard to see why. Getting here from Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok) is easy, accommodation comes in every shape and price, and the city hands you beaches, entertainment, malls, markets, restaurants, and quick island hops, all within easy reach. Whatever kind of stay you’re after, short or long, Pattaya has an answer for it.
And yet Pattaya isn’t quite as good as it looks. The beaches aren’t the best the country has to offer, and culture has largely given way to convenience — a polished picture built for a good time. Pattaya is a fine place to relax and enjoy yourself. It’s not the place to actually understand Thailand.
